Within the living room there are some antler chairs and tables with ivory carvings which were made in the German area of Bavaria for the wedding of Jane Hunter the 26th Laird of Hunterston in 1863, they may seem extremely unpleasant to sit on but surprisingly they are quite comfortable.

These tables and chairs would have been located in the mansion house but moved to the castle in the 1970's for the tours that began around this time.

The seating arrangement in the castle from the 13th to the 19th century would have consisted of a basic trestle table and also wooden seats possibly as simple as a trunk of a tree.

Over the years more elaborate seating would have been used maybe even similar to the antler chairs although not as fancy with the carvings
